Exponential relaxation to self-similarity for the superquadratic fragmentation equation

We consider the self-similar fragmentation equation with a superquadratic fragmentation rate and provide a quantitative estimate of the spectral gap.

Stochastic weighted particle methods for population balance equations with coagulation, fragmentation and spatial inhomogeneity

This paper introduces stochastic weighted particle algorithms for the solution of multi-compartment population balance equations. In particular, it presents a class of fragmentation weight transfer functions which are constructed such that the number of computational particles stays constant during fragmentation events. The weight transfer functions are constructed based on systems of weighted ...

Analytical solutions for the fractional Fisher's equation

In this paper, we consider the inhomogeneous time-fractional nonlinear Fisher equation with three known boundary conditions. We first apply a modified Homotopy perturbation method for translating the proposed problem to a set of linear problems. Then we use the separation variables  method to solve obtained problems. In examples, we illustrate that by right choice of source term in the modified...

Similarity Solutions of the Lubrication Equation

We present a method for constructing closed-form similarity solutions of the fourth order nonlinear lubrication equation. By extending a technique used to study second order degenerate diiusion problems, corresponding interface prooles and diiusion coeecient functions can be derived in exact form. Diierent classes of spreading and shrinking solutions are obtained using this approach.

On the similarity solutions for a steady MHD equation

In this paper, we investigate the similarity solutions for a steady laminar incompressible boundary layer equations governing the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow near the forward stagnation point of two-dimensional and axisymmetric bodies. This leads to the study of a boundary value problem involving a third order autonomous ordinary differential equation. Our main results are the existence, uni...
